Elephant Damage 10 Hectares of Oil Palm Plantations

PASIRPENGARAIAN - PekanbaruToday - Four individuals holding back wild elephants roaming in the village of Kepenuhan Barat, Sei Rokan Jaya, Kecamatan Kepenuhan, Rohul in the past week.

At least, 10 hectares of oil palm plantations owned by the villagers of the Fullness of the West have destroyed and eaten a herd of wild elephants parent. The animal was still back and forth on the community garden. Residents also can not do much with the fury of wild elephants had damaged palm plantation society.

Camat Kepenuhan, Erfan Dedi SSos Sanjaya, said it has received a written report from the Chief of the Kepenuhan Barat Sei Rokan Jaya, Thursday (4/1), associated berkeliarannya four breeding of wild elephants in the oil palm plantation. Residents do not dare go into the garden, feeling the fear of the parent wild elephants that roam their palm oil plantations.

''We've officially write to the Forestry and Plantation Rohul, regarding the number of wild elephants roaming carrier and destroyed dozens of hectares of oil palm plantation residents. The team hopes to bring BKSDA Riau to evict the parent wild elephant,'' he said.

Residents tried to eviction by using cannons. But those efforts have not been successful. (tto)
